Baryon Cycle in Galaxy Formation

主讲人简介: Xi Kang is a professor at the school of physics in Zhejiang University. He obtained his PhD from Shanghai astronomical observatory, Chinese academy of Science in 2004, and pursued postdoc positions in the University of Oxford and Max-Planck-Institute for Astronomy between 2005 and 2009. From 2009, He led the galaxy and cosmology group at Purple Mountain Observatory, Nanjing, and also led the partner group between his Nanjing group and the group led by Prof Andrea Maccio in New York University, Abu Dhabi. From 2020, He moved to Zhejiang University and is now involving the development of astronomy at ZJU. His main research fields are galaxy formation and large-scale structure.

报告摘要Galaxies are living in complex cosmic ecosystem which is composed of dark matter and baryonic matter. The baryon cycle through hot gaseous halo, circumgalactic medium and inter-stellar medium is important for galaxy formation and evolution while the detail of the cycle is not very clear. In this talk, I will present our empirical model to constrain the baryon cycle process in galaxy formation and compare the constraints with simulation results. I will also present our preliminary model on black hole accretion and QSO evolution in the galaxy.
